Keeping energy levels up after birth

To help look after your new baby

With a new baby to run around after, it’s completely normal to feel more than a little bit run down and like you don’t have a lot of energy.

It’s all part of motherhood!

Knowing it’s normal doesn’t make it better but thankfully there are a few things you can do to help raise those energy levels.

And that begins right at the beginning of the day – even if that’s at 5am!

Experts claim that having a breakfast full of proteins such as eggs and yogurt, and complex carbohydrates like whole-grain bread and cereals, is a great way for slow and healthy energy release throughout the day. It may seem like a lot of work, but we promise it’s better than a coffee with sugar!

Savvy snacking

And that’s not where it ends with those experts once again advising that new mums eat little and often throughout the day to keep those levels up. If you’re feeling too full after that breakie then try out some nuts or dried fruit, which slowly release energy throughout the day. Going out? Keep a bag with you!

However, it’s not all about food. Other things you can try to keep that energy  up includes going for a walk – even five minutes will help so grab your baby and the buggy and get out , as well as swapping fizzy drinks for water and taking a power nap (sleep when your baby does!).
