Choosing your child’s highchair can be quite a challenge as you have to look for a model with practical features and also one that will blend in with your home’s decor. The majority of high chairs are plastic, but many parents choose a wooden one as it feels less like a bit of baby gear and more like a proper piece of furniture. 

What to look for 

You can buy wooden high chairs with and without trays. The advantages with having a tray is that mess is more contained, but using a high chair without one means that you child can eat up at the table with the rest of the family, so it’s much more sociable. A good compromise is to buy one with a removable tray so you have the best of both worlds.

Need to know

Invest in a padded insert if you decide to buy a wooden high chair so that younger babies in particular have enough comfort at mealtimes. Many models have them available to buy as extras, or there are universal ones available too that will fit most highchairs.
