Morning sickness

Despite it's name, this very common symptom can happen at any time of the day

Often the first sign of pregnancy

For many, morning sickness can be the first sign that they’re pregnant. It usually starts around week 6 of pregnancy and will continue until around week 14. It’s completely normal and nothing to be too concerned with, although it is important to ensure that you’re looking after yourself during this time and eating and drinking enough (of what you can!).

Although there’s no specific ‘cure’ for morning sickness, it’s possible to alleviate some of the symptoms with various changes to eating habits and the types of food you eat. A common remedy is ginger, which has been known to ward off nausea and sickness in pregnant women.

Morning Sickness can in some cases be more severe, and could in some cases be a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. This usually requires hospital treatment for rehydration and treatment, but it is rare.
