Video: Can we find out the sex of our baby?
The NHS help you understand what need to know about finding out the sex of your baby
You can normal ask the sonographer during your second routine ultrasound scan (sonogram) if you want to find outthe sex of your baby.
This scan is done when you are around 18 to 21 weeks pregnant. It is not an exact science and the sonographer will not be able to be 100% certain about gender.
There is a policy in some hospitals to not share the sex of the baby with parents. If your hospital is one of them and you want to know, you may be able to pay privately for a scan to find out. You can speak to your sonographer or midwife to find out more.
In this NHS video, midwives explain about finding out the sex of your baby.
