Hello, lovely listeners, and welcome back to Bump and Beyond UK, your go to podcast for all things pregnancy served with a cuppa and a side of real talk. Today, we're diving into the second trimester. That's weeks thirteen to twenty seven, or as many call it, the honeymoon period of pregnancy. Why? Because for most moms to be, the morning sickness eases off, energy levels make a grand comeback, and, thank goodness, you actually start enjoying the whole pregnant thing.

So what's happening to your body? Let's break it down. You might actually glow. Yes. That pregnancy glow is real.

Increased blood flow and hormones can give you that fresh faced radiance. But fair warning, they can also bring some surprise guests like breakouts or pigmentation because why not? The bump makes its grand entrance. At some point between week sixteen and twenty, your belly pops, making it slightly more obvious that you're growing a human and not just indulging in one too many Gregg sausage rolls. Baby's first kick.

By week eighteen to twenty two, you might feel those magical first flutters, kind of like little bubbles or a tiny fish swimming around. Fast forward a few weeks, and baby will be using your bladder as a trampoline at 3AM. The weird bits, heartburn. Thanks to your growing bumps squishing your stomach, you may now be on a strict diet of Gaviscon and regret. Nosebleeds and stuffy.

Nose. Who knew pregnancy could make you feel like you've got a never ending cold? Bonkers dreams. Don't be alarmed if you start having bizarre dreams, like giving birth to a kitten or forgetting how to drive. Totally normal.

Let's talk libido. Some people feel extra frisky. Others would rather binge Great British Bake Off in peace. Either way, completely normal. No judgment here.

And, of course, cravings. Whether it's pickled onions dipped in Nutella or the sudden urge to drink a gallon of orange juice, just roll with it. No one's judging, so embrace this trimester. Take those bump selfies. Enjoy feeling a bit more like yourself again, and maybe even tackle that nursery shopping list because the third trimester, well, that's when things really start getting interesting.
