We give research from our 30,000 strong 'Word of Mum' Research Panel to charities, so they can represent the view of parents in their campaigns, to help ensure government policy and services benefit young families. We have shared our research with the following charities and organisations:

We help charities talk to healthcare professionals through our Bounty Health Network, so that they can better support parents. Our Bounty Health Network Advisors see up to 3,000 hospital and community midwives and health visitors a month. For example:

  • The Lullaby Trust (formerly Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) educates healthcare professionals through Bounty Health Network, so they can help parents learn about baby sleep safety and reduce the risk of cot death
  • The National Centre for Disabled Parents (DPPI) uses Bounty Health Network to let healthcare professionals know about the resources available to disabled parents and their families.
  • Group B Strep Support (GBSS) informs healthcare professionals through Bounty Health Network to raise awareness and share how infections in newborns can be prevented.

Update: Winter 2013

  • We supported the Department of Education and the Department of Work and Pensions by sharing the resources available to support families with half a million mums, including the early learning offer which has now been extended to some two year olds.
  • We told over 68,000 parents in Scotland about the Scottish Government's Kids in the Car campaign - an innovative approach to road safety, where parents are encouraged to consider how they are driving role models for their children.
  • We also shared details of parenting classes with local parents in Camden and Middlesbrough. These are now available through the Department of Education's CANparent pilot.
  • We announced the Bounty Advisory Board chaired by former General Secretary of the Royal College of Midwives, Dame Karlene Davis DBE. We look forward to enhancing our service for mums through the new Board. We have also launched a Bounty uniform for our staff in hospitals and 'How did we do?' feedback cards for new mums
  • Bounty's 30,000 strong 'Word of MumTM' shared mums views to help shape the work of The Royal College of Midwives, The Communications Trust and Group B Strep Support.
  • We have helped a number of charities and organisations raise awareness and promote their campaigns through our busy Facebook and Twitter pages, including Bliss, the Scottish Government and the Family and Childcare Trust.

Update: Summer 2013

  • Bounty are delighted to include Public Health England’s Start4Life booklet ‘Healthy habits for baby and you’ in our Bounty Pregnancy Information Folders which are handed out to mums-to-be at the ‘booking in’ appointment.
  • We recently shared the dangers of secondhand smoke for children with 700,000 families, supporting the Department of Health’s Smokefree campaign.
  • We also shared details of parenting classes with local parents in Bristol. These are now available through the Department of Education’s CANparent pilot.
  • The Lullaby Trust (recently renamed from the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths) will soon be including their new leaflet on sleep safety in our Bounty Newborn packs. In the meantime we have rolled out a new email campaign to mums-to-be which shows our sleep safety video– so they can best prepare for the arrival of their baby.
  • We have also added new resources for parents in our Bounty Mum-to-Be packs. A new postcard from the charity Bliss outlines their support services should they be needed if a baby is born ‘too sick, too soon’. Our post-natal Bounty Family pack now also includes a leaflet on healthy eating - ‘Ten Steps for Healthy Toddlers’ from the Infant and Toddler Forum.
  • Bounty’s 30,000 strong ‘Word of MumTM’ research panel helped to inform the NSPCC’s report Spotlight on Perinatal Mental Health, the Family Action report First Baby in Breadline Britain and the Pre-School Learning Alliance campaign Rewind on Ratios.
  • We have helped a number of charities and organisations raise awareness and promote their campaigns through our busy Facebook and Twitter pages, including Save the Children and the Department for Work and Pensions’ widget ‘Sorting out Separation’.

Spring 2013

  • Bounty has supported the Health Protection Agency with their work on whooping cough. As well as providing thousands of mums’ views on the new vaccination (though our 37,000 strong Bounty Word of MumTM research panel), we helped them contact families for a study to gather more information about how babies can catch whooping cough.
  • Bounty continues to support government in a number of ways:
    • We helped the Department of Health spread the word on the seasonal flu vaccine to pregnant women through a highly targeted pre-natal email campaign
    • We extended our support for the Information Service for Parents by including information in our Pregnancy Information Folders, as well as both email and online campaigns
    • We assisted the Department for Education with an email campaign for a CANparent pilot project
    • We promoted the new Department of Work and Pensions app ‘Sorting out Separation’.
  • We donated insight gleaned from our Bounty Word of MumTM panel to support the think tank Demos with research on child nutrition. The results were used to shape their report, ‘For Starters’ which reveals the challenges that parents face in feeding their young children. The report highlights the importance of early years nutrition and makes recommendations on government policy.
  • In the last three years, our Bounty Healthcare Fund has given over £57,000 to over 250 hospital and community projects that support breast-feeding. Recent projects which have benefitted from Bounty donations include: Milky Mommas, Gloucestershire Bundles, Zoë’s Trust and Babysteps.
  • We have helped a number of charities raise awareness and promote their campaigns through our extensive Bounty Facebook and Twitter followings including Save the Children; the Grandparents’ Association; the Pre-School Learning Alliance; Epilepsy Action; Pre and Post-natal Depression, Advice and Support (PANDAS) and Group B Strep Support.

Winter 2012

  • We are supporting the Government with the Information Service for Parents. As well as email and online campaigns, we are including wallet sized cards in our Pregnancy Information Packs.
  • We also assisted the Department of Health with their Games for Life campaign, promoting it to over 480,000 families.
  • We helped the Cabinet Office by spreading the word on the nomination process for the Honours List to healthcare professionals through our Bounty Health Network.
  • We supported the Centre for Social Justice with research on relationships and family stability. The results were used to shape their report, ‘Forgotten Families? The vanishing agenda’ that was launched at the recent Conservative Party Conference by Graham Allen MP and Tim Loughton MP.
  • Bounty helped the Royal College of Midwives reach over 75,000 signatures on their e-petition calling for more midwives in England. Our research continues to support the RCM’s Protect Maternity Services campaign.
  • We have promoted a number of charity initiatives through our extensive Facebook and Twitter following. For example, we shared baby Ronnie's story on Facebook which led to more people joining the bone marrow donor register in the hope that they will be a match for him.

Summer 2012

  • We supported the Department of Health with their SmokeFree campaign by sharing the dangers of second-hand smoke with over 700,000 Bounty members.
  • We highlighted the Royal College of Midwives’ e-petition calling for 5000 more midwives in England. Since October 2011, over 10,000 of our members have added their signature and the total number of signatures has rocketed to over 50,000! We have also provided research to support the Royal College of Midwives’ Protect Maternity Services campaign in the media.
  • We are keeping mums informed with inserts in our Bounty packs from:
    • 4children – a bookmark sharing resources on the Foundation Years’ website
    • Nursing and Midwifery Council – a leaflet explaining how and why women may contact a Supervisor of Midwives
  • We have promoted a number of charity initiatives through our extensive Facebook and Twitter following - including campaigns by Save the Children, Family Action and the Children's Heart Federation.

Spring 2012

  • We supported the Department of Health by promoting the free seasonal flu vaccine to over 250,000 pregnant women. We also spread the word to healthcare professionals through our Bounty Health Network.
  • We helped the Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths (FSID) promote their new initiative bubbalicious, (a social-networking website exclusively for pregnant teens and young parents) to over 20,000 Bounty members aged 14 to 20 years old. Within a week of our help, the number of visitors to the website increased by 183%.
  • We have updated our online support for single parents, with Gingerbread, the single parent charity.
