maternity dress

There’s lots you can do with maternity fashion, whether you’re on a budget or have a few pennies to spend and if you’re looking to impress at that special event then there’s some great ways to do this too.

Here’s how to dress to impress and make your other half/colleagues/mum/dog say ‘wow’.

Show off what your mama (and new bump) gave ya

Great legs, fab cleavage or Kim Kardashian curves? Make the most of them! Your changing shape means dressing to accentuate new parts of your body, so take a fresh look in the mirror to see what your new sexy bits are.

Keep it comfortable

Nothing ruins a good night like battling with an ill-fitting outfit. Stretchy fabrics, loose shapes and getting the size right will all help to ensure you feel as good as you look.

Don’t shop too soon

If you are buying something to wear in a few weeks time then remember that your bump can grow suddenly so either buy with room to grow or wait until the week before.

Choose the right shoes

A baby bump can throw your centre of gravity, making heels a bit of a challenge. A pair of glam flats or low wedges can look just as good without the topple factor. Set on heels? Then make sure you pack a pair of flats for when they get a little bit too much.

Go mad with accessories

You won’t want to buy a whole new outfit every time you go out, so use different accessories to dress up a simple party dress in different ways. We love Dorothy Perkins and Matalan for statement jewellery and fab bags in every colour under the sun.

Book a make-up consultation

Most department stores offer free consultations with lots of advice on what works for your skin type and style – perfect if your skin has changed during pregnancy! Book a trial a week or so before your big day to pick up some tips.

Borrow

Got a very special occasion that you desperately need a new frock for but the budget says otherwise? The check out the range of online maternity hire stores around offering designer frocks for hire at reasonable prices.
