So what does this year show as the names we are getting sick of? Over used and lost originality could be the reasons some of these names are in our top 10 list of names falling in popularity this year.
The last few years have seen a rise in popularity of names such as Harley, Rhys and Kayden for boys and Lexi, Leah and Lacey for girls, but this year’s baby names list reveals this may be coming to an end.
“It seems parents are tiring of modern monikers such as Riley, Kian and Jayden for boys as they are some of the biggest falling names this year along with Lexi, Leah and Lacey for girls and instead old fashioned names are taking their place.”
The report also revealed dozens of names which were all the rage at the turn of the millennium are already beginning to see their popularity wane.
The number of children named Riley has fallen dramatically, as has Kai, Tyler and Rhys.
We also appear to have grown tired of picking Harley, Kayden and Joey as monikers for our offspring.
Where girls' names are concerned Holly is no longer popular, nor is Lola, Molly or Hannah.
Lilly, Elizabeth and Katie have also experienced a significant fall of more than 20 places.
